The Entrepreneurship Cell of Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, and I-Cube will host the Inclusive Growth Conclave at EmergE, the first-of-its-kind Entrepreneurship Summit of IIM-Shillong. The conclave focusses on elucidating the importance of inclusive growth in business, and its relevance in the modern business arena. In addition to this, the conclave aims to serve as the platform to explore the diverse possibilities of rejuvenating the Northeast region through the new perspective of inclusive growth in business.

The conclave, through the medium of an eminent panel interaction, aims to challenge the conventional understanding of business growth which is gauged only on the basis of increased business profits. A business establishment can’t exist in isolation but it derives its inputs from intrinsic and extrinsic domains, hence it takes simple logic to predict that the sustenance of any business lies in the well-being of all its stakeholders, which include consumers, producers, employees and above all the society at large.

Northeast region is an emerging market space with diverse challenges and unexplored possibilities. This region is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse regions in Asia; each state in the region has its own distinct culture and tradition. In addition to this, Northeast region is a storehouse of biodiversity which diverse species of flora and fauna, lush green pastures and a plethora of natural resources. The conclave will be the protagonist in formulating the effective and efficient business growth strategies to be implemented for the future sustainability of the Northeast.

Driving the point home, the myopic perception of profit-oriented approach for business growth has to be rectified and deployment of effective and efficient long term sustainability plans for business is the need of the hour. There is a dire requirement to broaden the spectrum of business growth and commit to the ideal of “doing business with a difference” by incorporating inclusive growth as the mantra for the future business growth. The Inclusive Growth conclave aims to be the prime driver in amalgamating the vision of inclusive growth to the emerging business spectrum of the Northeast thus, making the region self-sustainable and a role model of prosperity for the rest of the world.
